Research in the field of using sound as a therapeutic method is still ongoing. However, there are companies that are betting on wearable devices. One of the assistants in this field is aimed at changing the time of use in general.
Many researchers are faced with the problem of adapting organizations to a new time zone after long trips. Researchers are also studying the effect of devices on brain activity over time.
New means that accelerate the process of drowsiness, improving quality and duration of sleep, exist. Scientists over the last decade have studied brain wave changes in patients with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease to improve sleep and memory.
Professor Ronil Malkani believes that stimulating the brain over time can significantly alter brain function during the sleep phase. The brightness of LED lamps is compared to regular lighting in the room.
Different devices, represented in the form of headwear with an application, help people fall asleep faster, stimulating brain waves during sleep, accelerating the process of falling asleep.
The company 'Elemind' proposed the development of a device that blocks brain waves associated with drowsiness. Active stimulation lasts about 15 minutes before sleep and delivers an electric current, similar to warmth and relaxation.
Devices like 'Elemind' and 'StimScience' have already been tested in small-scale paid studies involving companies and have been published in reputable journals. In one of the studies, the 'Elemind' company found that participants fell asleep on average 10 minutes faster while using sound stimulation.
'CloudScience' found that participants, including those suffering from insomnia, increased their sleep duration on average by 22 minutes when receiving an electric impulse. In each study, pseudo-sessions were conducted without stimulation for measuring the effects of intervention.
Such innovations present new opportunities for improving sleep quality in healthy people. However, it is important not to forget about simple but effective methods for improving sleep – darkness, quietness, and lowering stress.
